An SEN teacher is needed for a pupil referral unit (PRU) in North London for secondary school students with special educational needs aged 11-16.

As an SEN teacher, you will be working with students who have been permanently excluded from mainstream schools, with the aim of providing them with qualifications to ensure a successful future.

Willingness to do personal care is preferred for this role of SEN teacher.

Your responsibilities as an SEN teacher may include:

  • Lesson planning and delivery for students with a range of learning difficulties and complex needs. This may include alternative teaching methods, such as Lego therapy and intensive interaction sessions.
  • Helping students to develop confidence and independence.
  • Implementing behaviour management techniques, which may include physical restraints, to maintain a positive and safe learning environment.
  • Working with specialist teaching services, medical staff, counsellors, and psychologists
  • Being aware of safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of students.

To be an SEN teacher, you will need:

  • The right to work in the UK.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or overseas trained teacher awaiting QTS.
  • A clear and up-to-date DBS
  • Experience working as a Teacher in a UK school.
  • A patient and 'can-do' attitude.
