REESON Education are supporting a prestigious Independent Pre-Preparatory School with their staffing needs for the new academic year. The school are looking for an experienced Assistant Headteacher to join their team in September 2020 on a permanent basis. This is the first time a role of this type has been advertised at the school, and is only available as a long-term member of staff is now leaving after over 20 years in post.

The school caters for pupils aged 0 - 5 and is located within a leafy, affluent area of North London. The school can be easily reached via public transport, but on-site parking spaces will be provided as part of the additional benefits package.

The majority of pupils at the school leave aged 5 and go on to study at selective Independent Schools. Behaviour and resources are exceptional at all levels, and academic achievement is predominantly far higher than the national average at Early Years level. As such, the school are looking for a candidate with a wealth of experience leading a successful Early Years Provision, whether that be within the Independent or state Maintained Sector.

As an Assistant Headteacher you will be undertaking a key role within the setting; acting as 2nd in charge and reporting only to the Centre Manager. The role will be non-term time, with 33 days of annual leave (plus bank holidays) and a generous benefits package consisting of: private healthcare, a company car, on-site reserved parking and an additional £2000 per annum pension contribution. The core hours of work will be Monday to Friday, 08:45 - 18:00.

The ideal candidate will have Phase Lead or Assistant Head experience of 5+ years within an EYFS or Primary setting (Independent or State maintained). The role will also include SENDCO and Safeguarding Lead responsibilities and it would be preferred for applicants to also have previous experience within these areas. Experience with differentiated support for a range of children will be essential to ensure that each pupil reaches their maximum potential whilst at school.

40% of the Assistant Headteacher role will be class-based, supporting 4 year olds with their transition into the final year of school. These children will sit for entry examinations the following year, therefore a strong knowledge of the EYFS Teaching framework is essential. The remainder of the role will be undertaking SENDCO/Safeguarding and Management responsibilities across the school. Prior experience leading OFSTED inspections will also be desirable.

If you are an experienced Early Years Phase Lead looking for a new challenge, or an Assistant Headteacher looking to transition into the Independent Sector, please contact Amy at REESON Education today. Interviews will take place in the beginning of March, so please apply early to avoid disappointment.
