SEN Teacher

  • Primary SEN Teacher - ASD Class
  • Specialist SEN School
  • Merton
  • Excellent Facilities
  • Supportive SLT
  • Immediate Start
  • £150 - £205 per day

The Job

A top SEN school in Merton is looking for a primary SEN teacher for a long term, full time position starting ASAP running to the end of the academic year. The pupils are working at P Levels/Low National Curriculum Level 1 and as such someone from a mainstream EYFS or KS1 background would be a great fit.

The class is one of the more able in school and students are engaging and affectionate with very few behavioural issues. The TA team in class is very experienced and supportive but they do need leadership so those with experience line managing staff who sometimes need convincing of new ideas would be at an advantage.

The School

This welcoming, inclusive Merton special school caters for children aged 4 -19 with moderate and severe learning difficulties (SLD and MLD), pupils with autistic spectrum disorders (ASD) and speech and language development (SLCN).

The school is set in spacious grounds and they have a 6th form and Arts building. They are looking for an experienced teacher experienced in teaching special needs children in KS1 or KS2 to join them to work with them until the end of the summer term 2020.

The Ideal SEN Teacher Applicant

To be considered you must meet the following criteria;

  • Experience of teaching children with ASD, SLD and MLD, ideally within a special school
  • Primary trained
  • Knowledge of PECS and/or Makaton
  • Comfortable with TEACCH and Attention Autism methodology
  • Subject to reference and DBS checks
  • Some knowledge of Tapestry assessment and data tracking system would be beneficial though not essential
  • Available Full Time

The school are interviewing in the next two weeks, so apply today to ensure you don't miss out.

Applications subject to referencing and DBS checks.
