The School:

A Good (OfSTED) Independent SEN school in Camden, North London; that caters for ASD/SLD/PMLD Pupils, with related communication disorders, aged 4-19 years old is seeking to appoint a full-time permanent SEN teacher for January or ASAP. The school's staff are highly qualified and experienced and so well-equipped to deliver a curriculum tailored to the needs of pupils. All staff are trained in Makaton sign language and training is available on-site, while other communication aids such as PECS are used too. This is a very last minute need as a member of staff has unfortunately been diagnosed with a terminal illness. The school have made sure that there are good contingency plans in place for the time being and the successful SEN Teacher applicant will move into a well organised class with a clear handover in place and excellent data and in class knowledge from the support staff. The appointed teacher will be set up to succeed not left with a mess to clear up.

Each pupil has an individual education plan to which all staff - teachers, therapists, parents, and pupils - contribute. In the early years, the school focuses on teaching communication skills.

The Candidate:

The successful SEN Teacher will have a strong grasp of Makaton and PECs, as well as experience working with ASD/SLD children. This role is ideal for a teacher looking for a full-time role in South West London in an environment which has a ratio of staff to pupils. The school is looking for ambitious candidates looking to move into Senior Leadership Team positions if taken on full-time.
