THE SCHOOL

My client is a good to outstanding Ofsted rated special needs school in Surrey that supports and teaches pupils with autism and severe learning difficulties - experience in this area and Team Teach, PECS and Makaton skills would be beneficial although not essential. Class sizes are capped at 8 pupils and all classes have a minimum of 2 full time specialist TAs in class to support student learning.

This large SEN school located in a good area with lots of local amenities and it is very well served by public transport routes making it easily accessible from most of London zones 1 - 3. There is also ample parking on site for those who drive.

THE JOB

The desired Speech and Language Therapist will be a talented SALT graduate with demonstrable experience in supporting children with complex needs. This is a band 6 role and as such we are seeking suitably experienced people. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are centre to this role and any knowledge of non-verbal language such as Makaton or PECS will be extremely advantageous.

The Speech and Language Therapist will be friendly and amiable with a warm nature. The chosen applicant will have an innate passion to work with others and will a keen interest to further develop their career in supporting children with complex language barriers.

The main responsibility of the Speech and Language Therapist will be to provide therapeutic support to your key children, liaising with teaching and support staff, providing strategies to develop communication and liaising with parents and carers.
