THE ABA TUTOR JOB

I am seeking ABA Tutor and TA staff with a proven track record or a passion about working with special needs students. I am looking to appoint 5 new ABA Tutor and TA staff to support a new class opening in April at a fantastic, highly successful and oversubscribed small special school in Brent. The school is for childrenwith a Statement of SEN or Education for Autism and Severe Learning Difficulties.

What is an ABA Tutor?

An ABA tutor is the person who works day to day with a child or children implementing the strategies and implementing the skills identified by the class teacher (Behaviour Analyst).

The tutor should also follow the child's individual curriculum as guided by the class teacher. At this fantastic school the emphasis is on developing communication skills and as a result you will use ABA methodologies/strategies as outlined in the assessment notes and in team meetings following any amendments made to programmes by your class teacher.

All tutors should make every effort to attend all team meetings and workshops in order to maintain consistency and ensure continuous best practice. During workshops and team meetings good tutors help to identify areas of need/change within each individual pupil's programme, open discussions and offer suggestions as to potential methodology This input should be based on the curriculum and ABA methodologies to ensure that each child learns quickly and accurately and should be presented as an area for discussion by the whole team- if agreement doesn't occur then this should be written on a list of issues for one person to contact the case manager about.

All tutors should be trained in safeguarding and should not take any unnecessary risks when working with clients. Tutors should hold a current DBS check and have appropriate insurance.

Tutors working on ABA programmes are required to takei dataand complete records/paperwork and other administrative tasks as required in a timely, legible manner.

THE SCHOOL

This outstanding Brent SEN School provides a specialist teaching environment for pupils with a range of special educational needs, including: global developmental delay, Autism, and severe/complex learning difficulties.
The highest standards of education and personal support are ensured throughh the provision of a very specialist environment with small classes (7 to 10 pupils), specially trained staff, and onsite speech and occupational therapy.
Pupil interventions are carefully planned to ensure every pupil makes the best possible progress in line with their personalised Educational Health and Care Plan.

The staff work hard to ensure that all of pupils achieve their unique potential both personally, socially, emotionally, and academically in all areas of the curriculum (regardless of their gender, ethnicity, social background, religion, sexual identity, physical ability or educational needs). The majority of pupils move into the school at the beginning of Year 1 but the school has been growing by a year group at a time for the last 7 years and a new year group will be opening in April. These new classes will be staffed with a mix of new and experienced staff meaning that there will be positions available in primary and secondary classes. Due to the fabulous reputation of the school, its proven track record and the demand for placed they are so oversubscribed that it is rare that they are able to offer places to pupils from outside of the Brent borough.
