Art Teacher - Full Time - November Start - Temp to Perm - Chiswick
We are seeking a creative, patient, and enthusiastic Art Teacher to join a welcoming MLD (Moderate Learning Difficulties) special school based in Chiswick. This is a full-time, temp-to-perm opportunity starting in November 2025, offering the chance to make a real impact in a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Art across Key Stages 1 and 2, adapting lessons to meet the individual learning, sensory, and emotional needs of pupils with moderate learning difficulties and associated additional needs.
This role is perfect for an Art Teacher who is passionate about creativity, inclusion, and helping children express themselves through art in ways that enhance their confidence, skills, and self-esteem.
Art Teacher Responsibilities
- Plan, deliver, and assess engaging Art lessons for pupils in KS1 and KS2 with moderate learning difficulties.
- Differentiate teaching materials and approaches to meet varied learning styles and abilities.
- Foster creativity, independence, and confidence through a range of visual art techniques and mediums.
- Collaborate with class teachers, teaching assistants, and therapists to support pupils' individual learning plans.
- Create a stimulating classroom environment that celebrates pupils' artwork and achievements.
- Manage classroom behaviour positively and in line with school policy.
- Contribute to the wider life of the school through displays, art projects, and community initiatives.
Art Teacher Attributes
You'll be a dedicated and imaginative teacher who believes that every child deserves the opportunity to shine through creative expression.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS) or equivalent.
- Experience teaching Art at primary level (KS1 or KS2).
- A genuine interest in supporting pupils with special educational needs (SEN), particularly MLD.
- Strong communication, organisation, and teamwork skills.
- A nurturing and positive approach to teaching and behaviour management.
- Ability to integrate sensory and therapeutic approaches into creative lessons.
