Autism Support Worker - SEN School - Lewisham

The Role

This is a full-time, long-term opportunity starting after the summer break, with scope to continue beyond the academic year.

As an Autism Support Worker, you'll support pupils with autism and complex needs in a calm and structured setting. You'll play an important role in helping students progress both academically and personally.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support
  • Delivering tailored, engaging learning activities
  • Supporting the development of independence and life skills
  • Promoting a positive and consistent classroom environment

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has experience with, or a strong understanding of, autism and complex needs
  • Is patient, empathetic, and encouraging
  • Is confident working both individually and as part of a classroom team
  • Builds strong, positive relationships quickly
  • Is passionate about supporting children with SEN

Previous experience is beneficial, but not essential - a positive attitude and willingness to learn are key.

Requirements

  • Experience as an Autism Support Worker, Teaching Assistant, or similar (preferred)

  • A valid DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one
