Autism Support Worker

An exciting opportunity has arisen within a specialist setting in North London. An Ofsted 'Outstanding' school in North London Borough of Brent are seeking a Autism Support Worker with a proven track record of risen attainment to join their growing team.

Due to a high influx of student referrals, an additional class is being created to begin ASAP. The class will consist of 6 students, all of which are on the autistic spectrum. Additional to the successful applicant of this post, there will also be 2 Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) present within the class.

Knowledge and experience of working with Autism is essential as these children will be entering a new environment, therefore will require a clear and concise structure. The school need someone to hit the ground running with a wide berth of knowledge and ideas.

Experience of dealing with challenging behaviours is also of importance as this students are struggling from the lack of consistency. They have been moved from their mainstream school to this specialist setting and that change can be unsettling, therefore this can also cause frustration which may lead in to challenging behaviours.

It is important to create a calm yet interactive environment. The school has fantastic facilities and resources which will allow you to access any equipment needed to make this happen.
