Are you a compassionate and resilient Behaviour Mentor looking to make a real difference in the lives of young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? This is an excellent opportunity to join one of our specialist SEMH schools in the Wakefield (WF3) area, supporting students who require tailored behavioural and emotional support to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.

About Us:
Our SEMH school in Wakefield is committed to creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where every student is understood and valued. We specialise in supporting pupils with complex behavioural needs, trauma-informed backgrounds, and SEMH barriers. As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a vital role in helping students regulate emotions, build positive relationships, and engage successfully in learning. Our staff team is experienced, dedicated, and passionate about transforming lives through personalised support and high-quality care.

The Role:
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with students who display challenging behaviours linked to SEMH needs. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Personalised SEMH Support: Deliver tailored interventions to help students manage emotions, develop coping strategies, and re-engage with learning.
  2. Behaviour Management: Implement consistent de-escalation strategies, promote positive behaviour, and support students in making constructive and safe choices.
  3. Emotional & Social Development: Create a calming, supportive environment that builds students' resilience, confidence, emotional regulation, and social skills.
  4. Multi-Agency Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, parents/carers, SENCOs, and external professionals to ensure every child receives holistic, consistent support.
  5. Team Teach Training: Team Teach or similar de-escalation training is preferred but not essential. Successful candidates will receive free Team Teach training.

Requirements:
* Experience in an SEMH setting, PRU, alternative provision, or as a Behaviour Mentor/Teaching Assistant supporting students with behavioural or emotional needs.
* Strong empathy, patience, and understanding of trauma-informed and SEMH approaches.
* Excellent communication, with the ability to build trust and positive relationships.
* Adaptability, resilience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
* Behaviour management experience is an advantage, but full training will be provided.

Benefits:
* Competitive daily rate of £86-£100 per day.
* Full-time work available for an immediate start.
* Free Team Teach training and access to wider CPD.
* Supportive leadership team, specialist SEMH training, and opportunities for career progression.
* The chance to make a lasting, positive difference to young people who need stable, compassionate support.
