A highly supportive and well-structured Secondary Alternative Provision in Harrow is seeking a confident and resilient Cover Supervisor to join their team from December. This specialist setting supports pupils who require an alternative approach to mainstream education, often presenting with social, emotional, or behavioural needs. The school is conveniently located only a short 3-minute walk from Harrow-on-the-Hill Station.
Cover Supervisor Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise lessons in the absence of the class teacher.
- Follow set lesson plans while maintaining class structure and engagement.
- Support students with a range of behavioural, emotional, and learning needs.
- Build positive relationships with students, modelling calmness, consistency, and respect.
- Work alongside teachers, mentors, and support staff to promote a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Help maintain behaviour expectations using de-escalation and restorative approaches.
Cover Supervisor Attributes:
- PRU (Pupil Referral Unit) or Alternative Provision settings.
- Working with young people displaying challenging behaviours.
- Tutoring, particularly if you've worked 1:1 or with small groups.
- Youth work, behaviour mentoring, sports coaching, or similar roles supporting young people.
- Calm, patient, and resilient.
- Confident in managing behaviour and maintaining boundaries.
- Able to build positive rapport with students who may be disengaged or anxious.
- Available to commit to a part-time timetable.
An Enhanced DBS is required (or willingness to obtain one).
