Reeson Education are supporting an 'Outstanding ' Secondary School in Redhill, Surrey who require a qualified Teacher of Food and Textiles from May 2022. This is a part-time maternity cover position until October 2022

Based in Redhill, the school is seeking to appoint an inspirational and enthusiastic teacher who shares their vision and focus on making a difference to students' lives by delivering an exciting Food and Textiles curriculum.

Easily Accessed by train from London Bridge, Victoria, Clapham Junction and East Croydon, the school was inspected by Ofsted in 2017 and achieved "Outstanding" on all measures. Relationships between staff and students are exceptionally strong and the school are proud to serve boys and girls of all abilities aged 11-18.

Person Specification - Teacher of Food and Textiles - Redhill, Surrey

KS3 Food

The teacher appointed must have key subject knowledge and skills and have a passion for food education. They must be a team player and put the learners first. It is essential to have good time management and organisational skills. They must be able to create and select high quality resources to demonstrate their practical skills accurately and safely and thus enable learners to do this too. The food curriculum at KS3 includes both demonstrations of making food dishes and practical lessons for the students. These lessons are linked to theory work on nutrition, food science and food provenance, as well as the Eatwell Guide.

KS4 Textiles

The teacher appointed must have key subject knowledge and skills in teaching textiles and the 'arts'. They must be a conscientious practitioner who works well in a team; multi-tasking will be a priority working across the Textiles and Food departments. Textiles is a part of a department that also includes photography and so is classed as a 'specialist fine art course'. The emphasis on learning is accessing art through the medium and skill base of textiles, therefore the person appointed will be required to make and deliver high level resources, to aid the teaching and learning within existing schemes of work.
