A highly successful, inspiring and commended SEN School in East London is looking for a Graduate SEN TA.

This is an ongoing contract starting ASAP and will be a pathway in to teaching. Suited to an ambitious Graduate who is looking for an exciting career in teaching, a bit out of the ordinary and someone who is up for a challenge.

The School:

This setting is unique. It caters for pupils who have been referred from mainstream education and those who have been identified as having Special Educational Needs. Every pupil has an EHCP (Education, Health & Care Plan). Children at this School have a range of needs which may be Autism, ADHD, Severe Learning Difficulties, Multisensory Impairments, Down Syndrome and Physical Disabilities. For these children, the School offers a personalised approach, small group teaching in a calm and safe environment. Each child gets attention, understanding, and relevant learning for their cognitive development. Staff are incredible. They are supportive, respectful and empathetic. They teach the children language and communication skills - some students are nonverbal. They help them to be independent in movement - some students have mobility and balance issues. Above all they encourage them and help them enjoy learning!

The role - Graduate SEN TA

As the Graduate SEN TA, you will take on a hands on role in the classroom. You must be an excellent team player who is able to help the class teacher to deliver sessions and supervise children. You must be creative, able to think outside the box to make learning different. How can you make the learning appealing, interesting for students, how can you bring it to life? You will be in small groups so able to give attention to different pupils on a 1-1 level. You must be patient. These children are working far below national averages. They need a calm, patient and empathetic Graduate to support, encourage and praise their development!

Training - Graduate SEN TA

You will be provided training in this role. You will be supported in managing and understanding different special educational needs. You will be given opportunities for your own development and progression through certified courses such as PECS and Team Teach and there is the potential to complete Schools direct route to teaching too!

Humour is a must! Confidence is a must. Are you a person who always has a smile on their face and can build rapport with children? This role is for you.

This is a full-time role in East London starting ASAP - September / October 2020.
