A welcoming Lambeth primary school located close to Clapham is seeking a committed Graduate Teaching Assistant to support a Year 2 class from January 2026. This two-form entry school offers a supportive environment, structured training, and opportunities to develop experience across KS1.
This is an excellent role for a graduate looking to build classroom skills, gain experience before teacher training, or apply subject knowledge in a practical and rewarding primary setting.
About the Role
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will:
Work closely with the Year 2 teacher to support daily lessons and group activities
Deliver targeted tutoring and catch-up interventions, particularly in reading, writing, and early maths
Provide one-to-one and small-group support to help pupils secure key KS1 objectives
Contribute to a positive, calm classroom environment with clear routines and expectations
Assist with assessment, feedback, and preparation of learning materials
The school has a warm, inclusive ethos and is known for strong collaboration within the KS1 team.
Candidate Requirements
The ideal Graduate Teaching Assistant will have:
A degree in a relevant subject (e.g., English, Maths, Psychology, Education, Child Development)
Previous tutoring experience (school-based or private) - highly desirable
Strong communication skills and a confident, nurturing approach with young learners
A genuine interest in primary education and supporting progress in Year 2
An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
Contract Details
Start Date: January 2026 (trial days arranged ASAP)
Contract: Full-time, long-term
Hours: Standard school day
Pay: £85-£105 per day (depending on experience and qualifications)
