Responsibilities of the Head of School:
- As Head of School, you will lead the daily operations and strategic development of a highly specialist SEND setting.
- The Head of School will oversee teaching and support staff, ensuring high standards in education, behaviour, and pupil wellbeing.
- Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, maintaining compliance with all statutory requirements.
- The Head of School will drive curriculum innovation tailored to individual learning pathways.
- Monitor pupil progress and staff performance to ensure ongoing development and support.
- Lead Ofsted readiness and all aspects of school compliance and policy.
- Foster strong partnerships with families, local authorities, and multi-agency professionals.
- The Head of School will provide professional development, coaching, and support to staff.
- Manage resources, budgets, and health & safety requirements to ensure an efficient, safe environment.
- Represent the school as a visionary and compassionate Head of School in all internal and external communications.
Essential Requirements for the Head of School:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Minimum two years' experience in a leadership or middle leadership role.
- Experience in a SEND setting, ideally with autism and/or behavioural needs.
- A thorough understanding of safeguarding practices and SEND code of practice.
- Excellent organisational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Desirable for the Head of School:
- Additional SEN leadership qualifications.
- Experience with Ofsted inspections and school improvement.
- Familiarity with bespoke curriculum design and personalised learning plans.
