As a Healthcare Assistant in an SEN school, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional care and assistance to students with a range of complex needs. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Providing personalised care and support to students with SEN, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being throughout the school day.
  2. Assisting with personal care tasks, including feeding, toileting, and administering medication, in a sensitive and dignified manner.
  3. Collaborating closely with teachers and therapists to implement individual care plans for students, promoting their overall development and progress.
  4. Supporting students in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities, adapting materials and resources as necessary.
  5. Assisting in the management of challenging behaviours, using de-escalation techniques and providing a calm and nurturing environment.
  6. Monitoring and documenting students' health conditions, behaviours, and progress, communicating effectively with the wider team to ensure continuity of care.
  7. Establishing positive and trusting relationships with students, creating a safe and supportive environment for their learning and personal growth.
  8. Collaborating with other health care professionals and external agencies to ensure that students receive the necessary medical and therapeutic support.
  9. Encouraging and promoting the student's independence and self-care skills, empowering them to develop their abilities and build confidence.
  10. Promoting inclusivity and celebrating diversity within the school community, fostering an atmosphere of acceptance, respect, and equality.
