Reeson Education is looking for a dedicated HLTA to join a specialist SEN school in the M31 area. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced HLTA to work with pupils aged 9-19 who have very complex needs and are working significantly below their age levels. The successful HLTA will support pupils across the school, providing both small group and 1:1 or 2:1 support, helping them access the curriculum and develop key life skills.
This HLTA role is temp to perm, with the potential for a direct contract for the right candidate, giving long-term stability in a rewarding SEN environment.
About the School:
This specialist SEN school supports pupils with a wide range of complex needs, including ASD, non-verbal communication, SEMH, and other profound learning difficulties. Pupils are often working at EYFS or KS1 levels despite being older. The school provides a structured, nurturing, and engaging environment where each child is supported to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities for the HLTA:
- Deliver classroom support as a HLTA, working with pupils aged 9-19 with complex needs.
- Provide 1:1 and 2:1 support to pupils who may become dysregulated or triggered easily.
- Plan and deliver differentiated learning for pupils working below their chronological age.
- Work alongside teachers and therapists as an HLTA to implement individualised learning and care plans.
- Support pupils with ASD, non-verbal communication, SEMH, and other complex needs.
- Assist with behaviour management, ensuring pupils understand and follow routines appropriately.
- Adapt learning resources and strategies to meet the diverse needs of the pupils.
- Promote inclusion, engagement, and emotional wellbeing across all HLTA duties.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to planning and review meetings as an HLTA.
- Participate in staff development and support the school ethos as a professional HLTA.
Requirements for the HLTA:
- Previous experience as an HLTA, Teaching Assistant, or SEN support worker.
- Strong knowledge of supporting pupils with ASD, non-verbal communication, and complex needs.
- Experience working with pupils at EYFS and KS1 levels is highly desirable.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to work with pupils, staff, and families.
- Confident, proactive, and flexible in supporting pupils who may become dysregulated.
- Commitment to a long-term HLTA role in a specialist SEN environment.
- Team Teach training is advantageous but not essential.
Benefits for the HLTA:
- Full-time, long-term HLTA position with potential for a direct contract.
- Work in a highly supportive specialist SEN school environment.
- Competitive hourly pay and the chance to make a real difference every day.
- Opportunities to gain further experience and develop your career as an HLTA.
