Full-Time Learning Support Assistant (LSA) - Mainstream Primary School - Purley Way
An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and compassionate Full-Time Learning Support Assistant to join a mainstream primary school situated in Purley Way. This position involves providing one-on-one support to a Year 3 child with ASD and ADHD, ensuring they have the best possible learning experience.
As a Full-Time Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with the child and the school's SEN team to deliver tailored support, adapt learning materials, and create a positive and inclusive learning environment. Learning Support Assistant Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one support to a Year 3 child with ASD and ADHD, ensuring their specific needs are met.
- Adapt and differentiate learning materials to suit the child's learning style and abilities.
- Implement targeted strategies to support the child's social and emotional development.
- Collaborate with teachers and the SEN team to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Monitor the child's progress and provide regular feedback to teachers and parents.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for the child, promoting their participation and engagement in classroom activities.
- Support the child with any personal care needs, ensuring their comfort and well-being throughout the school day.
Learning Support Assistant Requirements:
- Experience in supporting students with ASD and ADHD: You have prior experience working as a Learning Support Assistant or in a similar role, supporting students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
- Empathy and patience: You possess a genuine compassion for students with special educational needs and can demonstrate patience when supporting their individual requirements.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills: You can effectively communicate with the child, teachers, parents, and colleagues, building positive relationships and fostering open lines of communication.
- Teamwork and collaboration: You are a team player, willing to collaborate with the SEN team, teachers, and other support staff to ensure a cohesive and effective support system for the child.
- Adaptability and flexibility: You can adapt your support to meet the changing needs of the child and the classroom environment.
- Enhanced DBS check: You are willing to undergo an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, ensuring eligibility to work with children.
