Job Vacancy: Full-Time Learning Support Assistant

Location: Wandsworth, London

Position: Learning Support Assistant (1:1 Support)

Start Date: ASAP / January 2023

About the school: We are a reputable mainstream primary school located in Wandsworth, committed to providing an inclusive and nurturing learning environment for our students. As part of our commitment to meeting the diverse needs of our pupils, we are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to work on a full-time basis with a Year 1 child who has emotional and behavioural needs.

Position Overview: We are looking for a compassionate and experienced Learning Support Assistant to provide one-on-one support to a Year 1 child with emotional and behavioural needs. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in fostering a positive and supportive atmosphere, enabling the student to fully engage in their learning and social experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to develop and implement individualised support plans for the specified student.
  • Provide one-on-one support to the Year 1 student, both inside and outside the classroom, to facilitate their academic and social development.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment, promoting the student's emotional well-being and social skills.
  • Collaborate with the teaching team to adapt learning materials and strategies to meet the specific needs of the student.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents and caregivers, providing updates on the student's progress and collaborating on strategies for support.
  • Monitor and record the student's progress, contributing to ongoing assessments and evaluations.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with primary-age students, particularly those with emotional and behavioural needs.
  • UK Primary SEN experience is essential.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A patient and empathetic approach to supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, special education, or related fields would be advantageous.
