The Role: We are looking for a compassionate and experienced Learning Support Assistant to join our team, providing 1:1 support for a Year 1 child with Autism and challenging behaviour. This role requires a patient and dedicated individual with a strong background in supporting children with special educational needs (SEN).
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 1 child with Autism and challenging behaviour, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies in collaboration with the class teacher and SENCO.
- Assist the child with classroom activities, ensuring they are fully engaged and able to access the curriculum.
- Use positive behaviour management techniques to support the child in developing social and communication skills.
- Monitor and record the child's progress, providing regular feedback to the class teacher, SENCO, and parents.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect and understanding.
- Participate in relevant training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children with Autism and challenging behaviour is essential.
- A solid understanding of SEN and the strategies to support children with additional needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, staff, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs.
- Relevant qualifications in education or child development are desirable.
