Setting: Mainstream Primary School

A supportive and inclusive mainstream primary school in Wandsworth (SW18) is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to work on a long-term basis, providing 1:1 support to a Year 1 pupil with ASD, ADHD, and dysregulated behaviour.

This role requires a calm, resilient, and consistent practitioner who can build a trusting relationship with the pupil and provide the stability and continuity essential to their progress and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 support throughout the school day, both in and out of the classroom

  • Implement strategies to support emotional regulation, behaviour management, and engagement in learning

  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and external professionals to follow individual support plans

  • Support the pupil's social interaction and inclusion within the wider school environment

  • Maintain accurate observations and contribute to reviews and progress discussions

  • Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times

Requirements:

  • Proven experience supporting children with special educational needs, particularly ASD and ADHD

  • Experience managing or supporting dysregulated or challenging behaviour

  • Ability to commit on a long-term basis to provide consistency and continuity

  • A patient, nurturing, and proactive approach

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a wider team

This position would suit an experienced Learning Support Assistant who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and committed to making a long-term difference in a mainstream primary setting.
