A Librarian is needed in a Mixed Sixth Form in South West London.
This Librarian position will be part time (Mondays and Tuesdays only) and temporary in the first instance.
If appointed as a Librarian you will be responsible for the silent study area in the Sixth Form's library.
Managing behaviour of many pupils in a large area will be an essential duty if you join the Sixth Form as a Librarian.
Other responsibilities for this Librarian post will include but not be limited to:
- Managing and organising library resources to enhance learning across all subjects
- Promoting the usefulness of the library for both academic and recreational reading
- Inspiring a love of literature and encouraging independent learning
The rates of pay for this Librarian role will be between £100 and £180, depending on the experience and qualification of each applicant.
The School
An Ofsted rated 'Outstanding' Sixth Form, for pupils aged 16 to 19 years old, located in the London Borough of Lambeth.
The building and facilities include but aren't limited to; music teaching/practice rooms, a drama studio, main hall, dining area, outside amphitheatre, graphics room, media room, art suite, fitness/sports space, ICT suites, large library, science laboratories and a horticulture space.
Cultural Perspectives are also a key part of learning, where pupils are taught about the wider world beyond the walls of the Sixth Form. Topics cover First Aid Skills, Space, Philosophy and Statues of Parliament.
There is also an onsite café where pupils can help themselves to coffee, hot chocolate, as well as a variety of snacks. Vegetarian and vegan options are available too.
Despite being a Sixth Form, the staff ask pupils to uphold a smart dress code.
Given its location, there is no shortage of enrichment outside of Sixth Form hours. Some of the local amenities are the South London Theatre, Streatham Ice Rink, Centre for Young Musicians, Acacia School of Dance and Chess at Streatham Library.
Requirements
You're encouraged to apply if you're an entry level Librarian or experienced Librarian.
Applications are also welcome if you're a British trained Librarian or overseas trained Librarian.
All applicants must have the following in order to be shortlisted for this Librarian role:
- Right to work in the UK
- Clear and up to date Enhanced DBS
- Experience as a Librarian in UK schools/sixth forms
- UK Bachelor's Degree in a discipline relevant to libraries
