Music Teacher - SEN School (0.2 Part-time)

Are you a dedicated and passionate Music Teacher seeking a rewarding opportunity to make a difference in the lives of students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)? We are currently recruiting for a Music Teacher to join a small SEN School situated in the beautiful area of Chiswick. This is a part-time role, working 1 day a week, with an immediate start and a long-term contract.

The Role:

As a Music Teacher, you will be responsible for teaching ASC students in Key Stage 2 & 3. You will have the opportunity to work with small class sizes of 5-7 students, allowing you to provide individualised attention and support. Your role will include planning and delivering engaging music lessons, tailoring the curriculum to suit the specific needs of each student. You will have access to a range of musical instruments, resources, and facilities to create an inclusive and inspiring learning environment.

Key Responsibilities of a Music Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver creative and interactive music lessons for ASC students in Key Stage 2 & 3
  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to accommodate individual learning styles and abilities
  • Foster a safe and supportive classroom environment, promoting positive behaviour and emotional development
  • Collaborate with other teachers and support staff to ensure a cohesive approach to student learning and progress
  • Assess and monitor student performance, providing constructive feedback and implementing appropriate interventions
  • Engage students in various musical activities, such as singing, playing instruments, composing, and exploring different genres
  • Organise and participate in school concerts and events, showcasing student's musical achievements

Requirements of the Music Teacher:

  • Qualified Music Teacher with relevant teaching qualifications (QTS)
  • Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) or other special educational needs (SEN) is highly desirable
  • Strong knowledge and passion for music, with the ability to inspire and engage students
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Patience, empathy, and flexibility to adapt teaching methods according to individual needs
  • Ability to create and maintain a nurturing and inclusive learning environment
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
