Nursery Nurse (0-5 Years)


Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a caring, enthusiastic, and skilled Nursery Nurse to join a welcoming school-based nursery in Wigan. This role is ideal for someone passionate about early childhood development, with the ability to nurture and inspire children aged 0 to 5 years.

We are looking for a dedicated professional who can contribute to a warm, supportive environment where children feel safe, confident, and eager to learn.


Main Duties

  • Support the delivery of a rich and stimulating learning environment in line with the EYFS curriculum.

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with children, encouraging independence, curiosity, and creativity.

  • Carry out regular observations and contribute to children's individual learning journeys.

  • Work closely with parents, carers, and the wider early years team to support each child's development.

  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and inclusive nursery setting.

  • Follow all safeguarding procedures and promote children's health and wellbeing at all times.

  • Contribute to planning and preparing a variety of engaging, age-appropriate activities.


Essential Criteria

  • A full and relevant Level 2/3 Early Years/Childcare qualification (e.g., CACHE, NVQ, BTEC).

  • Previous experience working with children aged 0-5 in an early years or school nursery setting.

  • A sound understanding of the EYFS framework and child development.

  • Excellent teamwork, organisation, and communication skills.

  • A nurturing, patient, and responsive approach to working with young children.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare.


Desirable Skills

  • Paediatric First Aid certification.

  • Experience working with children with additional needs.

  • Familiarity with school-based nursery routines and expectations.
