Nursery Nurse Level 2/3 - Wigan - Immediate Start

About the Role

We are recruiting a dedicated, compassionate and highly motivated Level 2 or Level 3 Nursery Nurse to join a welcoming Early Years setting in Wigan. You will be part of a nurturing, supportive team committed to providing exceptional childcare for children aged 0-5 years.

This role is ideal for someone who:

  • enjoys creating engaging learning environments,

  • builds strong, caring relationships with children,

  • understands child development,

  • and is ready to start immediately.

Whether you have experience in baby rooms, toddler groups or preschool, your skills will be valued and supported.


Key Responsibilities

Child Development & Learning

  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging activities aligned with the EYFS Framework.

  • Support children's progress through active play, communication and exploration.

  • Conduct observations, record development and contribute to children's learning journeys.

  • Provide individualised care for children with different learning styles and needs.

Care & Wellbeing

  • Ensure a warm, caring and secure environment for all children.

  • Support routines including meals, sleep times, toileting and personal care.

  • Promote independence, curiosity, confidence and positive behaviour.

  • Follow safeguarding procedures and maintain high standards of safety.

Partnership with Families

  • Build trusting, professional relationships with parents and carers.

  • Communicate daily about children's routines, progress and wellbeing.

  • Support transitions such as new starters, room changes or settling-in periods.

Teamwork & Professional Conduct

  • Work collaboratively with room leaders, practitioners and management.

  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised environment.

  • Follow nursery policies and contribute ideas to improve practice.

  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions and CPD opportunities.


Requirements

  • Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Early Years, Childcare or equivalent.

  • Understanding of the EYFS and early child development.

  • Experience in a nursery or early years setting is highly desirable.

  • Knowledge of safeguarding, health & safety and inclusive practice.

  • A caring, patient, enthusiastic and child-focused approach.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Enhanced DBS (Update Service preferred) or willingness to apply.


Desirable Experience

  • Experience supporting children with SEN or speech & language needs.

  • Paediatric First Aid qualification.

  • Familiarity with behaviour-support strategies for early years.

  • Experience delivering sensory play, phonics activities or preschool readiness.
