A top-tier special needs school in Lewisham is seeking a full-time SEN Teacher to join their team immediately. The position requires you to work Monday through Friday until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of continuing into the next academic year for the right candidate.
This exceptional school caters to students with Autism and complex needs, ranging in age from 3 to 11and possessing an EHCP. While the school has a strong academic focus, they also prioritize developing their students' independence in a nurturing and enjoyable environment. The successful candidate will teach a KS4 class of ten students who have varied abilities and mixed needs, including ASD, SLD, and two students with PMLD.
The class is stable and supported by experienced LSAs. While previous experience working in a SEND school is preferred, primary trained teachers with a keen interest in SEND will also be considered. You will be responsible for planning, assessments, and report writing, and experience with PECs and Makaton would be an asset.
To apply for this position, you must have QTS or QTLS, eligibility to work in the UK, a valid DBS/Police Check, proven child-related experience, knowledge of SEND, and previous SEND experience or a willingness to learn. Effective classroom management, curriculum knowledge, and strong communication skills are also essential, as is an adaptable and flexible personality.
