This successful Primary SEN School is seeking to appoint an excellent and experienced SEN Teacher for an April start.
You will teach a class of students with various Autism and SLD. The school benefits from excellent staffing ratios, small class sizes and a highly personalised approach to learning. Due to the success of the School, they are expanding the team and this is an exciting time to join. The class consists of no more than 7 pupils from KS2 and the needs are complex. Behaviour can on occasions be challenging but to combat this the class is supported by 3 full time TAs and there are clear strategies in place for each of the children. Many of the students will be non-verbal so alternative communication systems are used such as PECs. You will deliver a highly adapted curriculum, sensory based, to develop students basic skills in Maths and English and Fine Motor Skills.
This Central London School offers state of the art purpose built facilities accessible to all students including those with visual impairment. These include:
- Hydrotherapy pool with sensory environment.
- Specially adapted and equipped science, art, music and technology rooms.
- Soft Play room.
- A Sensory room.
- Specially equipped playground.
- Two minibuses for use in the community.
The Ideal Applicant
Due to this complexity and challenge the school are seeking to appoint an experienced practitioner who has at least 2 years recent experience teaching in a similar environment in the UK delivering to children with the same needs and challenges.
In addition to the class teacher role there is a the possibility of a TLR in the next 12 months as the current ASD lead will be taking on broader leadership responsibilities across school in the next 12 months as the school re-shapes its leadership model as part of succession planning for the next two to three years. The school are happy for applications from those with recent experience in a UK SEN environment including Overseas Trained Teachers (OTTs) either with QTS or with the possibility of obtaining QTS in the next 6-12 months.
