Primary SEN Teacher - London Borough of Lewisham

An Outstanding Primary Special Needs school who are now looking for a Teacher to work within their ASC KS1 Class in Lewisham

The role starts in October after the half term and would be for the rest of the academic year.

The Teacher would:

  • Work with pupils with learning difficulties with ASC
  • Helping all students enjoy their learning
  • Identify challenges and ensure that the pupils learn
  • Support pupils with communication skills
  • Helping pupils develop their senses and their physical abilities
  • 6 Pupils with 2 Support staff in the classroom

The ideal Teacher would have:

  • UK QTS or QTLS or overseas equivalent qualification
  • Experience working with Special Educational Needs (preferably ASC)
  • Experience in using PECS and Makaton in their lesson plans
  • Experience using the TEACCH approach
  • Subject knowledge of P Scales
  • Track record of teaching ages Ks1 and Ks2
  • Must be Caring, Adaptable and highly intuitive

The Teacher will be required to teach students who are on P Scales on the national curriculum, the pupils are of Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 age. The school is in Lewisham and there is a good number of local transport services that run to the school including the underground and local buses, there is also ample parking on site. The school have a mission statement that they are very committed to, which is to ensure all students enjoy their achievement. They continue to develop the curriculum and offer a wide range of activities in music, arts and sport through which children and young people can express themselves. The wellbeing of students is marked as a priority and they continue to keep up to date with this by building strong relationships with students and families.

Please note that the pay is MPS + SEN Points (paid via daily rate)
