A primary teacher is needed for a pupil referral unit (PRU) in North London for students who are at risk of being permanently excluded from mainstream education.

As a primary teacher for this PRU, you will be working with students who have been out of mainstream education due to physical or mental health challenges, with the aim of reintegrating them back into mainstream schools.

This school is easily accessible from around London, with great transport links.

Being a primary teacher at this PRU, you will become part of a highly supportive team with exceptional senior leadership and fantastic resources.

Willingness to do personal care is preferred.

Your responsibilities as a primary teacher may include:

  • Lesson planning and delivery for students with various needs, with the aim of re-engaging students with learning.
  • Tailoring lesson plans to suit individual's needs and interests.
  • Helping students to develop confidence and independence.
  • Implementing behaviour management techniques to maintain a positive and safe learning environment.
  • Working with specialist teaching services, medical staff, counsellors, and psychologists
  • Being aware of safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of students.

To be a primary teacher, you will need:

  • The right to work in the UK.
  • Early Career Teacher (ECT) with relevant experience will be considered.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or overseas trained teacher awaiting QTS.
  • A clear and up-to-date DBS
  • Experience working with young people with SEN.
  • A patient, caring attitude who can remain calm and supportive under pressure.
