The Provision:

This setting is unique. It caters for pupils who have been excluded from mainstream education and those who do not fit in to the standardised education system. All pupils referred to this School have a diagnosis of SEMH (Social Emotional Mental Health) and some have further learning needs such as ADHD and Dyslexia. For these young boys and girls they offer a personalised approach, small group teaching in a calm and safe environment. Each child gets attention, understanding, and behaviour intervention. Staff are incredible. They are supportive, firm and respectful. They teach the children respect and social behaviours, help them to understand their angers and their barriers to learning and encourage them to engage in their learning. There is a big focus on Vocational courses such as Hairdressing and Construction classes as well as core skills in Maths and English. No two days are the same in this one of a kind behaviour unit!

The role:

As the PR TA / Teaching Assistant, you will take on a Mentor role to the young people. You must be an excellent role model who is able to use your life experience to guide students on the right path. You must be creative, able to think outside the box to make learning different. How can you make the learning appealing, interesting for these students who have failed to engage in their mainstream Schools? How can you make it relevant and help them see value in getting their studies under their belt? You will be in small groups so able to give attention to different pupils on a 1-1 level. You will be supporting the Class Teachers in delivering learning and management behavior.

You will be provided training in this role. You will be supported in managing challenging behaviors and using de-escalation strategies. You will be given opportunities for your own development and progression and there is the potential to complete Schools direct route to teaching.

Humour is a must! Confidence is a must. Are you a leader who has always been successful building rapport with young people? This role is for you.

This is a full-time role in Dagenham starting ASAP.
