PRU Teacher - Barking

The School:

This setting is unique. It caters for pupils who have been excluded from mainstream education and those who do not fit in to the standardised education system. All pupils referred to this School have a diagnosis of SEMH (Social Emotional Mental Health) and some have further learning needs such as ADHD and Dyslexia. For these young boys and girls they offer a personalised approach, small group teaching in a calm and safe environment. Each child gets attention, understanding, and behaviour intervention. Staff are incredible. They are supportive, firm and respectful. They teach the children respect and social behaviours, help them to understand their angers and their barriers to learning and encourage them to complete their studies. There is a big focus on the wider world, career goals and plans. These staff work every day to motive pupils to do well and they are very successful in doing so!

The role:

As the Teacher for a small class of 6 pupils, you will deliver lessons in line with the UK Curriculum for a variety of subjects. You must be creative, able to think outside the box to make your lesson plans different. How can you make the learning appealing, interesting for these students who have failed to engage in their Secondary mainstream Schools? Like any other School you must track progress. You will have a class of only 6 pupils so your time will really not be stretched. You'll be able to give individual attention to pupils to boost their attainment and help them on to the next level. You will be supported in class with 2 TA's. The other important part of your role is behaviour management. You must know strategies to deescalate, to distract and to turn the focus back into a positive learning environment. Humour is a must! Confidence is a must. Are you a leader who has always been successful building rapport with students? This role is for you.

Benefits for you

This is a truly amazing setting. You'll be supported by incredible SLT team who are always on hand and easy to talk to. This setting is growing so there will be opportunity to develop and grow in this role. The teaching team are super motivated, happy and sociable which you will see from the get-go.

Interviews to be arranged immediately.
