The Role: The school is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Reception Teaching Assistant to join their team. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher to support the learning and development of the youngest pupils in the school. This role is crucial in helping to create a positive and engaging learning environment for the children in Reception.

Teaching Assistant Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging and age-appropriate lessons for Reception pupils.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, ensuring each child receives the individual attention they need.
  • Support the social, emotional, and physical development of pupils, promoting positive behaviour and learning attitudes.
  • Help set up and tidy away classroom activities, maintaining a safe and stimulating learning environment.
  • Supervise children during indoor and outdoor play, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Support the assessment and monitoring of pupil progress, providing feedback to the class teacher.
  • Foster positive relationships with children, staff, and parents, contributing to a welcoming and inclusive school community.
  • Assist with the preparation of teaching materials and resources.
  • Participate in school activities and events, supporting the broader life of the school.
  • Uphold the school's Catholic ethos and values in all interactions with students and colleagues.

Teaching Assistant Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, particularly in an Early Years or primary school setting.
  • A genuine passion for working with young children and supporting their development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, creativity, and a nurturing approach to supporting children's learning.
  • A commitment to upholding the school's Catholic values and ethos.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or child development are desirable.
  • An Enhanced DBS check will be required for the successful candidate.
