The Job

I am seeking to appoint an excellent experienced SEN Teacher to a Outstanding (OfSTED) SEN school for pupils from 7-11 with autism and SLD based in Brent. The school benefits from excellent staffing ratios, small class sizes and a highly personalised approach to learning. I am seeking to appoint a class teacher, ideally from September 2019 to join their expanding team. The class consists of 8 pupils from KS2 and the needs are SLD and complex. Behaviour can on occasions be challenging but to combat this the class is supported by 7 full time TAs and there are clear strategies in place for each of the children. Due to this complexity and challenge the school are seeking to appoint an experience practitioner who has at least 2 years recent experience teaching in a similar environment in the UK delivering to children with the same needs and challenges.

The School

This Haringey school offers state of the art purpose built facilities accessible to all students. These include:

  • Hydrotherapy pool with sensory environment.
  • Specially adapted and equipped science, art, music and technology rooms.
  • Soft Play room.
  • A Sensory room.
  • Specially equipped playground.

The Ideal Applicant

A background teaching Primary aged pupils with complex ASD and low communication skills (PECS & Makaton) is vital. In addition to the class teacher role there is a the possibility of a TLR in the next 12 months as the current ASD lead will be taking on broader leadership responsibilities across school in the next 12 months as the school re-shapes its leadership model as part of succession planning for the next two to three years. The school are happy for applications from those with recent experience in a UK SEN environment including Overseas Trained Teachers (OTTs) either with QTS or with the possibility of obtaining QTS in the next 6-12 months.

Please note that good standards of written and spoken English are required.

Interviews to be arranged ASAP!
