The SEN Teacher Job

A new independent Special Needs School in Camden central London is seeking to appoint a specialist SEN Teacher to join their team. The school cater to 4-11 year old pupils with moderate learning difficulties. The school is opening in a brand newly site in central London just minutes from the west end and great transport links via Tottenham Court Road, Kings Cross or Euston and the surrounding stations. The school is part of a highly successful group and offers great working conditions and opportunities to get in on the ground floor and allow your career to progress and grow along with the school. The Class

The class teaching aspect of this SEN Teacher role offers the opportunity to bring together and establish your own team of TAs. The leadership team are very friendly and have a great understanding of the needs and characteristics of the children in class.

The class will consist of 6 pupils who range abut have been grouped in accordance with their academic and social development. They are working below the national average for their age range and need additional support to access the curriculum. Their needs are moderate and progress should be quick as the additional support offered should help bridge the gap between their current attainment levels and their peers in mainstream education.

The Ideal SEN Teacher Applicant

All applicants must have recent experience teaching students with low level or moderate needs either within a specialist SEN environment or primary school. Good to Outstanding primary teachers with recent UK experience will be considered.

You will be living near to Camden or within the borough already and be willing to commute by public transport as on site parking is not available. You must be willing to commit yourself longer term to a development pathway and at least the next two years as the school enters an exciting new phase of its development.

The ideal candidate would have:

  • A proven record of teaching SEN students with autism
  • A good understanding of P levels and the Key Stage 1 national curriculum
  • The ability to prepare and teach effective lessons taking into account the individual needs of learners
  • A creative approach to lesson planning
  • A patient, calm and engaging classroom manner
  • Strong communication and team leadership skills
  • Full teacher status
  • Registered DBS or be prepared to carry out a new DBS application.
