THE JOB

My client is a good to outstanding Ofsted rated special school in Lambeth that is looking for a creative and vibrant SEN Teacher who is able to demonstrate excellent classroom practice with an up-to-date understanding of the latest developments in the UK curriculum and special needs best practise. The school supports pupils with autism and severe learning difficulties - experience in this area and Team Teach, PECS and Makaton skills would be beneficial although not essential.

Class sizes are capped at 8 pupils and all classes have a minimum of 2 full time specialist TAs in class to support student learning. The head welcomes applications from primary trained teachers with a good track record and an interest in SEN to apply. You will be teaching a year 7 class working at P level 6 to national curriculum level 2c.

THE SCHOOL

This large SEN school located in a good area of Lambeth that is very well served by public transport routes making it easily accessible from most of north, west, central and some parts of south London. There is also ample parking on site for those who drive.

The school is surrounded well serviced by public transport, is close to the bustling and fashionable nightlife and cafe culture in Brixton and also has good shops and cafes nearby. The building is well resourced, recently refurbished and very bright making it an attractive place of work for teachers from all around London.

Thanks to the forward-thinking approach taken by the Head Teacher, the school is always investing in training programmes for staff, installing new facilities and working to build a strong bond across the team. The SLT places great importance in building strong relationships with parents and in providing a positive environment for staff. There is a good social side with most of the staff making it out for a few drinks each Friday, the SLT make sure they and those with families leave early letting the younger elements of school staff blow off some steam!

The Headteacher has asked me to state that they are only seeking applications for those who are serious about obtaining a permanent job in the long run and a permanent contract may be available straight away for the right person.

THE IDEAL APPLICANT

The successful applicant will need to be able to demonstrate the ability to deliver fun, creative, interesting lessons designed to increase stimulate independent thought, interaction and sensory engagement amongst pupils.

In return you will be joining a successful and vibrant SEN school. As a SEN teacher you will be given excellent in house training. The class is well supported by an outstanding team of TAs in class who are supportive and open to clear direction.

Some teaching experience in a UK SEN or mainstream or English speaking SEN school is a must for applicants!

If this sounds like an exciting opportunity to you please apply today!
