SEN Teacher - Newham / The Chosen SEN Teacher:

As an SEN Teacher for Autism, you would be using a range of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems including Makaton Signing, On Body Signing, Coactive Signing, PODD Communication Books, PECS and a number of hi-tech voice output technologies (GoTalks, iPads, Proxtalker). Experience in working with these communication aids would be advantageous however the school provides an intensive induction programme to all new staff.

The chosen SEN Teacher must;

  • Hold QTS / QTLS or overseas trained equivalent
  • Have 1 year+ experience teaching, ideally in an SEN setting
  • Be able to develop and deliver their own creative lesson plans
  • Be knowledgable about Autism with strategies to support learning
  • Be able to lead a class team
  • Be ambitous and willing to learn
  • Be a team player
