The SEN Teacher Role

Ideally the successful applicant will have a proven track record working as an SEN Teacher in an SEN environment, but the Headteacher will happily consider anyone who is looking to transition from a mainstream setting.

The successful SEN Teacher will be teaching a mixed KS2 class (7 pupils) with Autism (ASD). Most of the children have communication and sensory needs as well as developmental delays. The class consists of 7 pupils who are all working at P levels, as a result experience of the EYFS curriculum would be advantageous, though not essential.

The successful SEN Teacher candidate will need to be committed, flexible and resilient with the ability to use their own initiative where required. Experience working in an SEN school or with ASD children would be desirable but not essential. The school are specifically looking for teachers who have obtained QTS but it is also worth noting that they are also happy to support ECT's.

Progress with these pupils can be slow when compared to their contemporaries so patience, a caring nature, passion for the job and strong self-belief will be essential.
