The SEN Teacher Job:

An Outstanding (OfSTED) SEN school in Camden, North London; that caters for the needs of learners with complex layered needs is seeking to appoint an SEN Teacher for a challenging but highly rewarding KS2 ASD class for after half term. This position is a maternity cover and the current class teacher has been clear that they intend to take a full 12 months leave. The school have made sure that there are good plans in place and the successful SEN Teacher applicant will move into a well organised class with a clear handover in place and excellent data and in class knowledge from the support staff. The appointed teacher will be set up to succeed not left with a mess to clear up.

The class consists of 7 pupils all with a diagnosis of ASD and are working at P Levels 3-7. The class is a friendly and engaging group and they have good routines and structures in place. This said there are one or two pupils who can be quite challenging and good behaviour management skills and a willingness to follow well established and effective behaviour plans will be required.

The SEN Teacher Candidate:

The successful SEN Teacher will have a strong grasp of Makaton and PECS, as well as experience working with ASD/SLD children. This role is ideal for a teacher looking for a full-time role in Camden or North London who has worked in SEN schools in the past and is seeking a move to an environment which has a great ratio of staff to pupils, excellent facilities and a fantastic SLT.

The school is looking for ambitious candidates who would be interested in permanent positions as they are expanding and opening new classes in September and would be open to offering contracts to the right people. You will have experience working as an SEN Teacher in a UK SEN school, be familar with TEACCH and Attention Autism and be comfortable planning and delivering lessons based around a sensory curriculum for KS2 pupils working at P levels.

Strong communication and organisation skills are required as well as a range of teaching and behaviour management strategies.
