REESON Education are working in close partnership with a Specialist Provision associated with an OFSTED 'Outstanding' mainstream Primary School. The provision caters for students aged between 4 and 11 on the autistic spectrum and with associated learning needs. The school are looking for a SEN Teacher to take over an Early Years class after the February half term until the end of the year in July.

The school offers fantastic facilities, including a nurture room, additional therapy rooms and classrooms suited to small-group intervention work.

Class sizes at the school consist of a maximum of 8 pupils, and there is always a minimum of 2 Teaching Assistants per class to offer additional support as needed. Leadership at the Centre are passionate about the individual needs of each pupil being valued and supported in order for every child to reach their full potential. A strong SEN teaching background will be essential for this role in order to be able to offer the support and teaching style that leadership expect.

This role will entail taking over a Reception class of mixed ability ASD pupils who are performing predominantly below national average for their age. The class is working to an adapted Early years Curriculum, which incorporates a play-based learning approach and opportunities for sensory and therapeutic learning.

Some pupils within the class have differing levels of communication skills, therefore experience with PECS and/or Makaton would be preferred.

As a SEN Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons that meet the needs of each individual student. The ability to differentiate successfully for Special Needs pupils will be essential as will experience supporting students with ASD and challenging behaviour within the classroom.

A SEN teaching background is preferred, however applications from experienced EYFS Teachers who are keen to make the transition into the SEN Sector will also be considered.

If you are an experienced SEN Teacher, looking for a new challenge in South London, please contact Amy at REESON today.
