SEN Teacher - PMLD

I am looking for an experienced SEN Teacher - PMLD to start at an 'Outstanding' specialist school in West London from September. The school specialises in teaching children aged 11-19 with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and severe learning difficulties (SLD) and is based in a new, purpose built building that opened in 2013. The school is located within zone 2 and has excellent transport links.

You will be teaching a class of 5 students all of whom have significant learning and medical needs. As a permanent member of staff you will be expected to undertake the following daily tasks:

  • Create lesson plans based around a sensory curriculum adapted to the specific needs of each student
  • Deliver "Outstanding" teaching
  • Undertake assessments
  • Track data
  • Liaise with parents and external agencies
  • Line managed your TAs (4 full time)

Students at the school come from all over West London the majority of students have speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) and are unable to communicate orally. The school uses communication aids such as picture exchange communication system (PECS), Signalong, Voice Output Communication Aids (VOCAs) and ICT resources such as iPads and Proloquo, and so knowledge and experience in any of these would be an advantage.

The Ideal SEN Teacher - PMLD Candidate must:

  • Have PMLD experience
  • Be a qualified teacher with UK experience
  • Experience in PECS and Signalong would be advantageous
