KS3 SEN Teaching Assistant - ASD/SLD

We are currently recruiting for an SEN teaching assistant to join an Outstanding SEN school in the borough of Brent. The school caters for students aged 3 to 19 with a range of learning difficulties including Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and physical, medical and sensory impairments.

Located a 5 minute walk from the underground station and with bus stops outside, this fantastic Brent special school is easily accessible by public transport. The school is based across 2 sites and has over 200 staff in total, making it a great atmosphere to work in. The school benefits form a large range of state of the art facilities including sensory suites, a swimming pool and outdoor learning areas.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant you would be working in a class of around 8 KS3 students, assisting the class teacher alongside at least one other teaching assistant, helping to deliver a range of subjects across the curriculum, including Literacy, Maths and ICT as well as supporting students to live independently.

The school is looking for someone positive and enthusiastic and has a proven ability to manage behaviour and work excellently with teachers, parents and therapists. Due to the communication needs of the students, experience in using PECS and Makaton would be advantageous, however the school is excellent in training staff in order to maintain their outstanding standards.
