SEN Teaching Assistant

Salary: £20,427 to £23,850 per annum (pro rata for part-year)

Hours/Weeks: 36 hours/39 weeks

Reeson Education are supporting a large mainstream secondary school in Lambeth south London who require an enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2022 on a full-time basis.

The school are looking to appoint creative, talented graduates, preferably aspiring teachers, who would like to work for a dynamic and innovative school with an exciting curriculum offer. We are particularly (but not exclusively) seeking subject specialisms in Visual Arts (Photography and DT desirable), Mathematics, Science, Humanities and Performing Arts.

The Role - SEN Teaching Assistant - September 2022 - Lambeth, South London

The school require an enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a busy and fun environment where every day offers something different. Candidates with previous SEN experience are encouraged to apply but this is not essential as training will be provided. The successful individual will support students with moderate learning difficulties, special educational needs and disabilities across a variety of year groups. Candidates should possess excellent interpersonal and listening skills with a commitment to helping each student achieve their full potential.

The role will involve:

  • Working closely with our SENCo, Higher Level Teaching Assistants and other specialists (e.g. speech and language therapist) to deliver 1:1 or group interventions with students with identified learning needs;
  • Delivering effective in-class support in collaboration with the class teacher
  • Assisting teachers in creating resources and lesson planning within a particular subject area;
  • Monitoring pupils' progress, recording and reporting on achievement.

  • At least an upper-second class honours degree
  • Excellent literacy and communication skills
  • A true desire to work with young people in education and have a positive impact on their lives
  • A determination to raise achievement for all students, regardless of background or starting points
  • A willingness to employ excellent subject knowledge to further enrich students' learning experience
  • A willingness to learn, listen and work proactively within a team
  • The ability to provide students with a fine role model
