SEN Teaching Assistant - Supporting High-Functioning ASD Pupils

Position: The school is searching for a committed SEN Teaching Assistant with experience in supporting ASD pupils. The chosen candidate will play a crucial role in helping high-functioning ASD pupils maintain focus on their work and develop crucial skills.

Role Requirements: Applicants for this role should possess the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Prior experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, particularly in supporting ASD pupils.
  • A deep understanding of the unique needs and challenges faced by high-functioning ASD children.
  • Demonstrated patience, empathy, and the ability to create a calm and supportive learning environment.
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with teachers, parents, and professionals.
  • The ability to serve as a positive role model to inspire and motivate pupils.

Key Responsibilities: The SEN Teaching Assistant will be responsible for the following:

  • Providing one-on-one and small group support to high-functioning ASD pupils.
  • Assisting with classroom activities, ensuring pupils remain on task, and offering additional explanations or guidance as necessary.
  • Encouraging social interaction and communication skills among pupils.
  • Progress monitoring and reporting to teaching staff.
