A highly inclusive and supportive primary school in Islington is looking to appoint a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2025. This role will involve providing 1:1 support for a child in KS2 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), helping them access learning, develop social communication skills, and manage behaviour positively within a nurturing environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about special educational needs, whether you have school-based experience, a background in youth work, social care, or are keen to develop within a SEND support role.

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide 1:1, consistent, and proactive support for a KS2 child with autism

  • Assist with classwork, communication strategies, and behaviour regulation

  • Help deliver targeted interventions for both social and academic development

  • Collaborate closely with the school's SENCO, teaching staff, and outside professionals

  • Play a key role in creating an inclusive, positive learning environment

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children with additional needs or a strong willingness to learn

  • Team Teach training is desirable (or willingness to train)

  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach, with confident behaviour management skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities

  • Background in youth work, support work, or social care highly beneficial

  • Available for a full-time, term-time position starting September 2025
