Reeson Education is currently recruiting a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Havering. This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs and helping them succeed in the classroom.

The school is located in Havering, with good access from Romford, Hornchurch, Upminster and Rainham, and is known for its strong inclusive ethos and excellent SEN support provision. The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will work closely with teaching staff to ensure pupils receive the support they need to thrive.

Role Overview - SEN Teaching Assistant

The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will support pupils who require additional guidance to access the curriculum. The SEN Teaching Assistant will provide 1:1 support and assist with small group interventions, helping pupils build confidence and remain engaged in learning.

Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant

  • Providing 1:1 support for pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH and communication needs
  • Supporting small group learning activities within the classroom
  • Assisting pupils with behaviour management and emotional regulation
  • Supporting teachers with adapting lessons for pupils with additional needs
  • Working closely with teachers and the SENCO to monitor pupil progress
  • Encouraging confidence, participation and independence

Requirements for the SEN Teaching Assistant

  • Previous experience working as a SEN Teaching Assistant or supporting pupils with special educational needs
  • Understanding of autism, ADHD, SEMH or communication needs
  • Patient, supportive and proactive approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Passion for supporting pupils as a SEN Teaching Assistant
