The School - Hospital School
This unique educational setting has a site based within the ground of an NHS Mental Health Hospital and caters to the students aged of 11 -16 years who are admitted and staying, undergoing long term treatment. Students have Mental Health needs including Depression, Schizophrenia, Self-Harm, Anxiety and Eating Disorders. They currently have 38 students on role and provide a therapeutic way of learning that aims to maximise pupils opportunities in taking exams and continuing their education as normal as possible as if they were in School. The School is headed up by a passionate and inspiring Head Teacher and the team works closely with the mainstream Schools to access students levels and abilities and educational aims as well as local authority and mental health professionals in the hospital to ensure a full- well rounded level of care and education.
The Role - Teacher - Hospital School / Mental Health provision
This tight knit school are looking for an Teacher to start on a full time contract ASAP. You must be a fully qualified teacher that holds QTS or QTLS or OTT and has experience teaching in an alternative provision or SEN school. You will be required to teach small groups of up to 5 students and provide 1-1 teaching, sometimes in the ward, for pupils with mental health needs. The teaching will follow the UK Curriculum and you will be mainly teaching core subjects - Engish, Maths and Science. The role requires a creative Teacher to make learning engaging for pupils with complex issues and someone who is empathetic, able to build rapport and build confidence in these young people.
