We have an Ofsted outstanding school situated in the borough of Brent who are currently looking for a teaching assistant to help support a student who has seizures.
What does being a Teaching Assistant entail within an SEN School?
- Working 1:1 or in small groups
- Reporting on individual progress
- Liaising with parents
- Managing Challenging Behaviour
- Supporting the teacher
- Preparing the classroom for the day
- Providing personal care if required
This SEN school specialises in supporting children with Autism as well as other complex needs. They are looking for a TA that is able to help support a student who suffers from epileptic fits. Knowledge of seizures would be ideal however the school are able to provide training for the right person. They are an Ofsted outstanding special school situated in Brent and have 2 other sites across London. They are a lovely school with fantastic facilities for both students and staff, they are well known for their supportive SLT who provide a welcoming environment for their pupils. This school works with children at primary and secondary. They are a large SEN school that have approximately 300 students. It is their sole focus to make sure every child is given the chance to work at their maximum potential.
This will be a full time, long term role starting from February/March (Covid19 depending). We are ideally looking for someone who is a graduate TA however, this is not essential. We are looking for someone who has confidence, resilience, enthusiasm in addition to being highly dependable at short notice.
Becoming an SEN TA/Teaching Assistant can be the perfect introduction to understand how schools are run. For example, if you are looking to become a teacher, this is a fantastic way to build a foundation of knowledge of what would be expected from you, if you decided to pursue a career in teaching.
