Full-Time SEN Teaching Assistant

Responsibilities:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting secondary school students with special educational needs within the school setting. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Assisting teachers in delivering tailored lessons and interventions to meet the individual needs of students with SEN.
  2. Providing support to students with their academic progress, including assistance with assignments, assessments, and exam preparation.
  3. Supporting students in developing their social and communication skills, fostering inclusion within the school community.
  4. Collaborating with the teaching team to create and maintain a positive and engaging classroom environment.
  5. Implementing behaviour management strategies and techniques to support students with SEN.
  6. Assisting students during transitions between classes and providing support during break times.
  7. Supporting students in accessing the curriculum and adapting materials as needed.
  8. Working closely with external professionals and therapists to ensure a coordinated approach to support.
  9. Monitoring and tracking students' progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents.
  10. Ensuring the safety and well-being of students at all times.

Requirements:

- Prior experience working with secondary school students with SEN is highly desirable.

- A genuine passion for working in the education sector and supporting students with special educational needs.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

- Ability to work effectively as part of a supportive team.

- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the individual needs of students.

- Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach.
