Responsibilities:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting secondary school students with special educational needs within the school setting. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting teachers in delivering tailored lessons and interventions to meet the individual needs of students with SEN.
- Providing support to students with their academic progress, including assistance with assignments, assessments, and exam preparation.
- Supporting students in developing their social and communication skills, fostering inclusion within the school community.
- Collaborating with the teaching team to create and maintain a positive and engaging classroom environment.
- Implementing behaviour management strategies and techniques to support students with SEN.
- Assisting students during transitions between classes and providing support during break times.
- Supporting students in accessing the curriculum and adapting materials as needed.
- Working closely with external professionals and therapists to ensure a coordinated approach to support.
- Monitoring and tracking students' progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents.
- Ensuring the safety and well-being of students at all times.
Requirements:
- Prior experience working with secondary school students with SEN is highly desirable.
- A genuine passion for working in the education sector and supporting students with special educational needs.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a supportive team.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the individual needs of students.
