Responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant (ASD) at a secondary level include:
- Providing one-on-one and group support to students with ASD, focusing on their individual needs and adapting teaching strategies accordingly.
- Assisting in the development and implementation of personalised learning plans, ensuring that each student's educational goals are met.
- Employing effective behaviour management techniques to help students with challenging behaviours regulate their emotions and engage positively in the learning environment.
- Collaborating closely with the teaching staff and other professionals, such as Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists, to implement specialised interventions and strategies.
- Promoting social interaction and communication skills among students with ASD, facilitating their integration into the school community.
- Monitoring student progress and providing regular feedback to the teaching team, contributing to the development of individualised education plans.
