Are you passionate about supporting students with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) in their educational journey? We have a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic PMLD classroom in a full-time, long-term role with an immediate start.

As a PMLD Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in assisting the class teacher in creating a nurturing and inclusive learning environment for students with PMLD. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Providing one-on-one support to students with PMLD, helping them to access the curriculum and participate in classroom activities.
  2. Assisting with personal care needs, including feeding, toileting, and mobility support, ensuring the students' comfort and well-being.
  3. Collaborating closely with the class teacher to implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and differentiated learning strategies.
  4. Supporting students in developing their communication skills, utilising alternative communication methods such as sign language or visual aids.
  5. Encouraging and promoting independence and self-esteem among students, fostering a sense of achievement and confidence.
  6. Assisting in the preparation and adaptation of learning materials and resources to meet the diverse needs of students with PMLD.
  7. Monitoring and recording students' progress and behaviour, providing feedback to the class teacher to inform future planning.
  8. Establishing positive relationships with students, building trust and rapport to create a safe and supportive learning environment.
  9. Collaborating with other professionals, including therapists and support staff, to ensure a holistic approach to students' development.
  10. Promoting inclusion and celebrating diversity within the classroom, fostering an atmosphere of acceptance and respect.
